Paintings

Paintings will be taken off frames for easy and safe transport through the post. Unless otherwise indicated. Prices are inclusive of postage within Australia. For paintings sent overseas, extra postage costs of $10 is required.

Once received, the paintings can be easy and quite inexpensive to frame. Before framing, just iron out any creases, as the silk is not harmed by ironing. It will be easier to iron the silk on the reverse side. I use standard size canvases for most of my work. These are available through most art outlets, and can be reasonably priced. The silk is then gently stretched and tacked over the canvas. It is not necessary to have canvas over the frame. I just find this is sometimes a cheaper option to having a frame constructed. Of course, that is the other option. Frames can be constructed from light wood to the appropriate size. Smooth any sharp edges, and then tack the painting around the frame. This method of framing keeps the painting light. The dye is all colour set so it is quite resistant. Any dust that gathers can be simply wiped off edges with a damp cloth. I have also framed many painting using matts and framing under glass. This is also very effective and more protective. However, also more expensive. I am often asked if the paintings are light fast. I have had paintings hanging on walls for the last 30 years, with little change to the colour. Of course any painting or textile will fade when place in full sun or a sunny environment. My clients continue to enjoy the energy of my paintings for many years.
